Experience - Susan Reid

I am an Independent Practitioner and work with clients as part of my own practice.

I have previously worked with adults and young people in two local counselling agencies which receive GP and self referrals; Life Story Therapeutic Centre in Reading and ARC in Wokingham. I also spent five terms working as a volunteer for Place2Be offering counselling services to children in a London primary school.

My training as a therapist has built on many years in the NHS working in the acute, chronic and elderly care sectors where I supported patients and relatives through life changing situations.  In a managerial role within the NHS I also had a pastoral role supporting health care students throughout their training and with the personal and financial challenges they faced as students in an acute medical/surgical setting.
Working with infant and junior school children in a west London primary school gave me an appreciation of how challenging life can be for young children. I was also able to observe at close hand the daily challenges of life in school for teachers and support workers and to experience the demands and stresses of their roles.
